Adam Farber, LCSW is a Licensed Clinical Social worker who focuses on providing treatment to individuals and families who require support coping with emotional and relationship challenges throughout their day to day lives. He has been engaged in this field for over ten years and places an emphasis on the therapeutic relationship built with client’s, as this trust is crucial to facilitating and maintaining progress towards goals.
He received his Bachelor’s degree in Social work from The University of Pittsburgh. Upon completion of this degree, he transitioned to New York City to obtain his Masters in Clinical Social Work from the accredited New York University Silver School of Social Work. There he received extensive training in which his focus was on interpersonal functioning, psychoanalytic theories, and trauma informed care. Due to his love of the quaint and diverse city of Pittsburgh, he returned to plant deep roots and began his post graduate degree career.
Adam Farber has worked within multiple programs throughout his career including inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization as well as in-home programs within the community mental health model, here in Pittsburgh and in the New York City area. His focus in treatment aids individuals with anxiety, depression, attention issues, oppositional-defiant disorder, physical/emotional/sexual abuse, interpersonal relationship concerns and parenting challenges.
Adam places value in meeting each client on their level and providing them with support based on their individualized needs. He addresses client’s needs utilizing cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), trauma focused CBT, dialectical behavior skills (DBT), behavior management, trauma informed care, strength based approaches, and self-psychology with a client centered focus.
