Contact Katie Ryan, LCSW
Katie is a licensed clinical social worker with 15 years of clinical experience treating adults, older adolescents, families, and couples. Central to Katie’s work are non-judgment and respect for the issues that bring clients into the treatment room — depression and anxiety and trauma, and also more difficult to articulate experiences like shame, guilt and grief. All have a place here, and all can be transformed.
Katie’s approach is eclectic – based on your needs. She works primarily from a psychodynamic and relational perspective, and incorporates DBT, CBT, ACT, EMDR, and mindfulness tools into all treatments when appropriate. Katie relies on both in-depth work and practical skill-building to help develop insight, self-compassion, and breaking free of problematic patterns. Additional areas of interest include maternal mental health and parenting challenges.
She holds a master’s degree in psychology from Duquesne University, and also a master’s degree in social work from New York University. She has worked in private practice and community mental health settings since 2004 in NYC and Chicago.
Prior to her career in mental health, Katie was an English major who never did write her version of the Great American Novel while executive-assisting at a major record label… until reality called, she went to grad school twice, and eventually returned home to Pittsburgh to follow her bliss as a therapist and a mom of one.
