I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who’s practiced in the field for over 25 years. I bring a wealth of knowledge from diverse experiences in a number of settings. This includes community outpatient mental health treatment, mobile therapy for children and families in the community, adult partial hospitalization, residential treatment for adjudicated youth and counseling for trauma survivor treatment center. Prior to entering the counseling field, I was a clinical dietitian at a teaching hospital.
Clients who are interested in learning cognitive and behavioral issues to help manage anxiety and mood disorders are perfect candidates for my services. These individuals are interested in understanding connections between patterns and experiences early in life and the present and in using this insight to affect meaningful growth and healing. I work with clients who are seeking to work through past traumas.
My expertise is in person centered therapy with focus on development of cognitive strategies to change negative and irrational thinking contributing to anxiety and mood disorders. Additionally, I have experience with behavioral therapy including development of relaxation strategies, DBT skills including mindfulness, and a Psychodynamic approach in looking at impact of past relationships on present day issues.
Overall, It would be an honor to accompany you on you journey of healing and growth. I will actively listen as you discuss past and present issues which have led you to seeking treatment. We will proceed at your pace as we examine past patterns which contribute to present day concerns. And we will also focus on building a variety of cognitive-behavioral coping strategies.
