Intern
Hi! I’m Nick Trizzino, a graduate intern at New Directions Meadowlands. I’m currently earning my Master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling at Duquesne University and have previously worked with emerging adults and adolescents as they navigate the transition into adulthood. I take a non-directive, person-centered approach to counseling, and I emphasize being authentic and nonjudgmental so that you’re comfortable giving yourself that same compassion. From there, we can explore topics like relationships, communication skills, uncomfortable emotions, or any other concerns you might have.
I believe that all of us are shaped by the people and places we come from. Using techniques like narrative therapy, emotion-focused therapy, and relational-cultural therapy, we’ll reflect on how you’ve learned to relate to others, how you make meaning of your experiences, and how familial/cultural contexts impact your beliefs about yourself and the world.
I’m a firm believer that you hold the answers to all of your questions or concerns–my job is to provide support, ask evocative questions, and maybe offer some guidance as you find them. I’m excited to work with you as you deepen your connections to yourself and others!
