Licensed Clinical Social Worker
As a therapist, the people who I have had the best success with are adults who are seeking to understand what is contributing to their current difficulties and how they can more effectively manage them. This can encompass a wide spectrum of issues, however there is typically a common goal for all: to understand themselves better, make more productive choices and experience a greater sense of self worth and life satisfaction.
I have had 30+ years of professional experience as both an individual/family therapist and a health & wellness coach. I have worked in a medically-based practice, community mental health, private practice and a healthcare insurance company. This has afforded me the opportunity to gain experience with acute and chronic mental health conditions and how they can be addressed. I am a clinical social worker and a certified case manager. My clinical practice has been primarily in the areas of depression, anxiety, relationship issues, life management and adult ADHD. My therapy approach draws from several modalities and I will employ the techniques that will best address a person’s needs and unique set of circumstances. My style is supportive and nonjudgmental. When I first meet with you, I will focus on getting acquainted with you and seek to have a good understanding of what prompted you to start therapy. I will partner with you as you uncover the root causes of your difficulties and learn to control what’s controllable. Having had to face life challenges of my own, I can relate to the different struggles people experience and I know that making change is not easy!
Except for when attending college and graduate school, I have resided in Pennsylvania. I grew up in a small town on the Allegheny River in Northwestern PA. After completing my master’s degree, I moved to Pittsburgh. My interests are music (I started college as a music therapy major), art, cooking, theater and spending time with family and friends.
