Shayna Honzo is both a Licensed Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor. She has experience working with youth, adolescents and young adults in a wide variety of clinical settings including both inpatient (short and long-term residential) and outpatient (clinics, clients homes, local schools and in the community). She primarily works with clients ages 9 and up with diverse challenges including: adjustment disorders, mood disorders, behavior related disorders, anxiety, trauma and relationship struggles.
Shayna focuses on the whole individual by assisting clients in managing their emotional, mental, social and physical self-care. She views clients from a non-judgmental, strength-based and systemic approach. This helps meet the clients where they are, to elicit positive growth. Shayna utilizes treatment modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Person-Centered Therapy and Motivational Interviewing techniques to meet the needs of clients.
Shayna earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Thiel College where she majored in both Psychology and Criminal Justice. She went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. In addition to working at New Directions, Shayna also works as a supervisor at non-profit agency. Outside of work, Shayna enjoys spending time with her husband and pets (Hulk an English Bulldog and her two cats Scrambles and Felix), as well as the rest of her family. She also enjoys going to the gym and learning new things to grow personally and professionally.
