Sandra Booth is a National Certified Counselor and Licensed Professional with over 20 years of clinical experience. Raised in farm country of New York State, Sandy received her BA in Psychology and an Equestrian instruction certification from Houghton College. Shortly after graduation, Sandy relocated to the Pittsburgh area to start her career working in direct care services. This ranged from inpatient acute care to residential treatment to community based crisis and triage. Having several years of direct service under her belt, she returned to graduate studies to gain her Masters in Professional Counseling from Waynesburg University.
Sandy believes that every person has the inner strength and resilience within them to overcome obstacles necessary to claim the life they wish to live. Her training in a myriad of psychotherapeutic approaches preserves the respect that each individual learns and engages uniquely. Incorporating Psychodynamic/Interpersonal therapy, Existential Humanistic approaches, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing has served to meet various needs across the spectrums.
Sandy’s provision of a supportive, empathic and affirmative treatment environment invites clients to comfortably join in an authentic relationship. She joins in partnerships to healing with individuals in all life stages who identify with any religion, culture, gender identity and sexual orientation. Sandy specializes in addictions, sexual maladaptive behaviors, overcoming trauma, personality disorders, relationship issues, anxiety, grief/loss, depression, and those struggling with acceptance and life adjustments. Sandy incorporates art, mindfulness, and grounding techniques into sessions to allow for the healing power of the mind body connection. These approaches in combination with her ability to empower individuals have helped many clients find the keys to achieving life meaning and fulfillment.
