Codie Piotrowski, MHC

I am a provider at our Wexford – VIP Drive clinic who provides therapy services in-person and via telehealth. My ideal clients are children, adolescents, and young adults. I like to work with those aged 12-17 years old. My clients may be individuals with ADHD, OCD, anxiety, self-esteem, depression, anger management, trauma, life transitions, relationship issues/family difficulties. The clients may struggle with one of these diagnosis that affects them throughout the day to be able to get daily tasks done. They may need extra support to manage and regulate emotions. Their goal is to successfully be able to manage their diagnosis with their everyday task.

I specialize in animal-assisted therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy. CBT can help change your negative thought patterns to improve the way you feel. With animal-assisted therapy, the client can create a bond to produce a calming state which when applied to cognitive behavioral therapy, a client can understand and retain information from the sessions more easily. I am trauma-informed and take this into account with all that I do. I take a person-centered and trauma-informed approach to foster positive therapeutic relationships. This includes cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, animal assisted therapy, art and music expression.

I am a pre-licensed therapist. I come from a background working with children, adolescents, adults, and families in multiple settings school-based, residential, and inpatient. These experiences have taught me the importance of working with clients to meet them where they are. I have my Masters in professional counseling from Carlow University. I enjoy volunteering my time doing therapy dog visits, training dogs, building better connections with owners and their animals as well as spending time with my 4 animals at home.
