Lauren completed her Bachelor of Science in Psychology at the University of Pittsburgh. She then went on to get her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Waynesburg University. She is a firm believer that most people can benefit from a non-judgmental, outside perspective. Lauren values the client’s uniqueness and will collaboratively design a specialized treatment plan that meets each their needs. Lauren has received training in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), strength-based interventions, trauma-informed care, and mindfulness techniques. This helps to assist her clients in alleviating distress and promoting one’s capacity to flourish.
Lauren seeks to establish a secure therapeutic relationship to enhance the client’s quality of life. She patterns her counseling to help clients recognize and sit with unpleasant feelings. In addition, this can help identify any roadblocks they may cross during the therapeutic journey. Lauren places emphasis on the importance of recognizing unhealthy feelings, to get curious about them, to honor wants/needs, and to offer compassion and a deeper understanding of who we are.
Lauren’s professional background includes working in inpatient acute hospitalization, community-based services, and the PA office of Vocational Rehabilitation. Lauren is a native of Pittsburgh, growing up in one of Pittsburgh’s largest suburbs. Lauren is a lover of nature, hiking, gardening, yoga, spending quality time with friends and family, and exploring with her dog.
