Luke Kocan is a pre-licensed mental health therapist at our Wexford – VIP Drive clinic who provides therapy services in-person and via telehealth. He comes to New Directions Mental Health from Carlow University Health & Counseling Services where he worked with students who had a variety of presenting concerns including anxiety, trauma, mood disorders, depression, personality disorders, relationship challenges, and life transitions. Prior to working at Carlow, Luke owned and operated a retail store in Morgantown, West Virginia which often partnered with WVU and LGBTQ+ organizations.
Luke will be providing individual services to adults of all ages. He has experience treating most areas of concern with a specialty in familial-related trauma. Luke utilizes a holistic, trauma-informed approach to therapy. He uses a combination of Existential therapy, Psychodynamic therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with clients. He emphasizes a comprehensive approach that allows for strengths, goal setting, and skill development.
Luke has an undergraduate degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Professional Counseling from Carlow University. When not providing therapy, Luke enjoys reading, skiing, taking foreign language courses, spending time with his two border collies, and gardening.
