MacKenzie Haladyna, MS, NCC

I am a clinical mental health counselor at our Meadowlands clinic who provides therapy services in-person and via telehealth. I currently enjoy working with trauma and personality disorders specifically borderline personality disorder. At my internship site, I began working with the assertive community treatment team, which is an inpatient program offering services to the severely mentally ill. I am currently completing a clinical complex trauma training through PESI. (CCTP) I am familiar with addictions counseling, crisis counseling, and I have a great amount of experience working with those with intellectual disabilities. I have worked with children as young as four years old all the way to eighteen years old. I have worked with quite a few elderly individuals as well. Currently I hold no certifications; however, the clinical complex trauma training, I stated above will provide me with a certification upon completion. (I do not believe I can put it next to my name as I am not licensed yet.) I have completed various other trainings through PESI, such as DBT training, Grief Counseling training, The Body Keeps the Score training, etc.

I greatly enjoyed working with individuals who have borderline personality disorder. Ideal goals would be to develop a strong, therapeutic alliance and address trauma at the clients comfort level. Ideally, we would collaborate together to implement realistic treatment plan goals that can be evaluated every month for progress. Changes would be made as necessary along with utilizing various different therapeutic modalities that fit the client best. Reliable and validated mental health assessments will be utilized to evaluate smart goals. My clients and I collaborate together and work through their past traumas to the level they feel comfortable. As my clients progress through treatment, we can evaluate reducing the frequency of appointments.

I want my clients to know that they always have a safe and comfortable place to talk. I want them to feel as comfortable as possible. My clients should be aware that their care is at the upmost importance. Ethics and a strong therapeutic alliance is at the core of counseling and my relationships with my clients. Unconditional positive regard, empathy, and a positive genuine attitude are precursors of the individuals efficacy of treatment. If they are unsatisfied with treatment, I want them to feel comfortable with sharing that with me so we can collaborate together to make treatment an overall better experience for the individual.
