I approach therapy from a Humanistic perspective, prioritizing empathy, focusing on client strengths, and maintaining a collaborative, judgement-free environment. Drawing from CBT, DBT, attachment theory, and mindfulness, I tailor the therapy to the goals, style, and comfort level of each individual whether they seek guidance to maneuver a recent crisis or look to heal past emotional injuries or do deep self-work. I operate within a developmental organizational framework, which is to say that none of us get to where we’re going by walking a straight path. Life provides an endless series of challenges as we grow through the normative stages of life. I am experienced with ages 3 – 98 and with most DSM disorders. I welcome clients of all ages and any manner of presenting problem!
No matter your reasons for therapy, I invite you to generate hope. Let me show up for you, listen without judgement, respect and support your most authentic self, and offer understanding and fresh perspective.
A few guiding beliefs:
- You are not what has happened to you.
- You cannot know what you have never been taught.
- You need not believe everything you think.
- You are not a drop in the ocean, you are the entire ocean within a drop.
I am from Wisconsin but have lived all over, including NYC. My life experiences taught me to respect and relate to diversity and to be grateful for the beautiful resilience of the human spirit. I moved to PA for grad school, earning an MS in Clinical Psych and a PhD in Developmental Psych at Pitt. I am a single mom devoted to two human babies and three entertaining fur babies. I enjoy hiking, reading, puzzles, gardening, and writing.
