My name is Abby Shurmatz. I offer therapy services at our Bloomfield clinic!

I am a recent University of Pittsburgh MSW graduate currently seeking my LSW and LCSW. I have over 3 years of experience working at Western Psychiatric Hospital on the Center for Eating Disorders unit (with experience on every unit in the hospital). Additionally, I have experience holding my own caseload of adult clients treating a variety of mental health diagnoses. My experience working inpatient will allow me to help you navigate and understand how to utilize other resources to help you get better, while also using my knowledge from working with individuals to help you feel like yourself again.

I am extremely passionate about working with LGBTQ+ youth and adults as well as those with eating disorders. My previous work experiences have shown me that there are many gaps in treatment for both of these groups, and I seek to help bridge those gaps the best I can and provide the best care possible.

I believe that the first step to getting better is asking for help, which can be difficult, but know you’re already on the right path to feeling more like yourself again. I go into each session with an empathetic, client-centered approach which will allow me to put you and your needs first. I am a passionate and caring therapist who’s always got your back.
