I am a provider at our Greensburg clinic who provides therapy services in-person and via telehealth. My philosophy of counseling is very strengths-based and holistic meaning focusing on all aspects of a client’s life is important to me. I believe it important to address physical, social, and emotional needs to be able to achieve optimal treatment for each client. I favor many modalities of counseling with Emotionally Focused Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered, Dialectical-Behavioral Therapy, and Narrative Therapy being some of my favorites! Lastly, above all my goal is that each client feels that they do matter being the unique individuals they are, that they are safe, and being truly heard. As a mainly person-centered counselor I view myself as a piece to my clients journey with working alongside them to help them thrive in their journey.
In general, I am open to almost anything when it comes to an incoming referral. When imagining my “ideal” clientele, some things I have most experience in are anxiety, depression, anger, emotional regulation/behavioral issues, adjustment, grief, couples counseling (communication, trust issues, etc.), family counseling, Autism, ADHD, and trauma. The latter issues I would say I have most confidence in to date treatment wise although I am willing to explore other areas. Something very common with the areas I mentioned is that clients dealing with any of those things are typically looking for affective coping strategies for short and long-term. I like to explore deeper roots on issues with clients as sessions go on to achieve lasting change/healing but at the very beginning my main focus is to build rapport, give them some immediate coping tools, show empathy, genuine support, etc.
I am currently a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) who is working towards becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I graduated undergrad from Seton Hill University with a B.A. in Music Therapy in 2020 . During that time in undergrad, I had various clinical experiences working beside a variety of populations with the special needs being my favorite. From a child, music was my main interest but through studying music therapy it made me discover my great love of helping others and watching people learn to thrive. I then went on to peruse a masters in Marriage, Couple, and Family counseling from Geneva College and graduated in 2022. I’m grateful to be able to now say that I can use my musical gifts when applicable as well as be a general counselor. In my spare time, I enjoy playing my piano or guitar and singing as I do gigs on a periodic basis. I also teach a few music students on a weekly basis as well as teach ballroom dancing.
As a counselor, my favorite aspect is being able to watch my clients grow through whatever that “struggle” may be regardless of how long that journey takes. I live for the “ah-ha” moments that they are able to achieve either independently or with some guidance on my part as I walk along side them during the therapy growth process. I see counseling as not just my career but first and foremost a passion to helping others achieve wellbeing in mind, body, and spirit. I strive to meet clients where they are at with a genuine, empathetic, calming, and sometimes humorous presence as we build a relationship to meet their goals together.
