Nick Yee, LMFT

Nick Yee is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist at our Robinson clinic who provides therapy services in-person and via telehealth. He has more than seven years of experience working across a variety of clinical settings including schools, a psychiatric hospital, and a university counseling center. Nick also has experience working in a social worker role on an inpatient unit at a psychiatric hospital. His many work experiences have helped him to gain a more in-depth appreciation and understanding of mental health issues for diverse client populations.

Nick’s approach to therapy begins with establishing a strong therapeutic alliance based on empathy which creates a safe holding place for expression of self.  Nick works with individuals to explore concepts such as responsibility, values, and meaning. He utilizes these concepts to understand how these fit into maladaptive patterns of thinking.  This collaborative, explorative process built upon empathy and trust can be illuminating and gratifying, which can lead to positive change.  Nick trusts that each individual internally possesses many strengths which can be utilized to reach desired goals.  The process of therapy can help to apply these strengths.  Nick’s areas of focus include depression, grief, autism spectrum disorder diagnoses, emerging and young adulthood, and couples.

Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Nick Yee graduated from the University of Southern California with a Master Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy.  He is a transplant to Pittsburgh. He is enjoying exploring the city and in his free time Nick enjoys playing hockey and photography.
