Becky Richardson, MS, LPC is a Licensed Professional Counselor who has been working therapeutically with individuals and groups for more than 5 years. Prior to her work in private practice, Becky provided services to adult and adolescent clients in an addictions residential treatment program in which the aim was to help residents address behaviors keeping them tied to the cycle of addiction. The recovery process, with both addictions and general mental health challenges, is at the core of Becky’s work with her all of her clients, and she enjoys helping clients overcome hurdles to the process of change. Guiding clients toward a deep awareness of what is happening emotionally in the immediate moment is an important part of the help that Becky provides, reflective of the importance Becky places on attending to the mind-body connection and on mindfulness.
At New Directions, Becky provides individual therapy to adults and adolescents struggling with a wide range of difficulties including: anxiety, depression, substance abuse, grief and loss, anger, stress, and problematic relationships.
A native of New Hampshire, Becky graduated from Chatham College with a Masters of Science in Counseling Psychology in 2006. Her therapeutic training has also included completion of a program in Gestalt Therapy at the Gestalt Institute of Pittsburgh from 2009-2011. Becky has continued her professional education with advanced training in Gestalt Therapy. Prior to entering the counseling field, Becky enjoyed a career as a teacher.
