Tory Butterworth received her doctorate in Psychology from the University of Michigan and is a licensed professional counselor in Pennsylvania.She has been in private practice as a psychotherapist for over 15 years.She has done extensive training in body-centered psychotherapy, and uses her skills in body awareness, imagery and movement to help clients to create full, meaningful lives.
Tory has worked with a wide range of clients over the years including adults and couples struggling with anxiety, depression, stress management, grief and loss and relationship challenges. She has particular expertise in helping clients with disordered eating, those who are integrating past traumatic experiences, and individuals managing workplace issues such as dealing with difficult bosses or finding their career direction.
Tory has extensive training in a developmental approach, helping her clients to recognize and reconnect with core aspects of themselves and of others they interact with. She has found this process helpful to clients in developing empathy for themselves and those they are in relationship with, as well as teaching them more effective interpersonal skills.
When she is not working, Tory enjoys as number of creative pursuits, including folk dancing, writing fiction, and spending quality time with her two cats.
