Lacey Marks LCSW New Directions Counseling

Lacey Marks is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who believes your past experiences are all connected to this very moment. Having been formally trained in EMDR at the Institute for Creative Mindfulness for both parts I and II, Lacey now uses this modality with many of her clients. Planting seeds for change can lead to the most rewarding and fulfilling growth. Although we may feel “stuck” after years of talk therapy or attempting to “do it on your own”, there is always hope for change and healing. Lacey utilizes Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) frequently to disarm those negative thoughts, past traumas, depressive periods, mood instabilities, and various types of anxiety.

Along with EMDR, Lacey has a strong belief in the ability for you to heal yourself through meditation, guided imagery, yoga, mindfulness, and various other holistic avenues.  Self-exploration and learning to trust your essential self can lead to deeper healing. Lacey identifies as having a strong humanistic approach with components of cognitive behavioral therapy and is always client centered in treatment planning.

Lacey earned her Bachelors in Social Work from Slippery Rock University and a Masters Degree in Social Work from Edinboro University. She has extensive experience in community mental health including wraparound services and outpatient mental health in Beaver County.  While in community mental health, Lacey worked with clients struggling with PTSD, major depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorders, and more. She works with clients 10 and older, as well as families and couples who are motivated to make positive changes in their lives.

Lacey was born and raised in the area and now raises her own children with her husband. She enjoys time at her family’s camp, spending time in the outdoors and with her loved ones. She also loves spending time reading, meditating, and practicing yoga.
